Personal Care: Extra Help and Security
Personal Care is designed for those who are active, yet want assurance that a helping hand is near, day or night, whenever assistance is needed. This may mean help with medications or mobility so residents are able to continue doing the things they like … from dining with friends to attending chapel services, gardening, walking in the woods and much more. One of the biggest advantages of Laurel View Village is the wide array of enjoyable activities made easily available for all of our residents.

Our Personal Care Center is staffed with a licensed nurse and certified assistants 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served each day, and prescribed medications are administered by our certified staff. Complete housekeeping and laundry services are included, as well as help with personal hygiene, mobility, therapy and much more according to individual needs.
Our Personal Care Center is all about safety and personal preferences. Residents receive the support they need, at the same time they are also encouraged to be as independent and self sufficient as possible. In Personal Care we offer studio apartments or two room suites, each with full private bath, call bells and safety features.
Residents furnish their apartments as they wish with their own furniture and decor. We provide plush wall to wall carpeting and coordinated draperies. both in attractive neutral colors.
There are mini-kitchens with sink, microwave and small refrigerator. Closet space is generous. Heating and air conditioning are individually controlled within each apartment.
We offer a secure area named Reflections for residents who are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Reflections staff is specially trained to respond to the symptoms and difficulties of dementia and provide appropriate reassurance and support.
Beyond physical safety and support, we offer our Personal Care residents a wide range of activities and therapies; in fact, we have a full time activity director dedicated to our Personal Care residents.
Calendars are published each month detailing various happenings on campus. We have everything from religious services to theatre and shopping trips, choral concerts, dances, movies, road trips and tours. Free transportation and escorts are provided as necessary, and of course everything is handicapped accessible.
In addition to scheduled events, we have frequent spontaneous activities such as gardening and cards, puzzles and crafts. Friends gather to watch Steeler games together in the fall and cheer on the Pirates on summer evenings. We have horseshoes and bocce ball and lots more.
We even have a full time Wellness Coach who helps residents maintain good physical conditioning through exercise in our Fitness Center, swimming in our therapy pool, or simply walking our wooded trail.
No one is required to participate in anything, but we believe that having a multitude of options readily available in a safe comfortable setting makes it easy our residents to be involved with others and have a pleasant time doing what they enjoy. This spirit of community is a part of what makes Laurel View Village so exceptional.
