RE: Positive Case of COVID-19

Dear Laurel View Village Community Members,

As of today, June 5, one staff member has tested positive and is now quarantined at home. The individual with the positive test result is a member of our maintenance team.  We are currently following the “Criteria for Return to Work for Health Care Personnel with Confirmed or Suspected COVID-19” guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

This positive test result will prompt additional testing of residents and employees. We will be starting with those who would be considered exposed due to close contact with the positive individual. Individuals identified for testing will be contacted by Laurel View Village personnel for instructions on how to receive their test. Also, we are following guidance to retest the positive staff person to rule out a false positive result.

Please know that we have followed, and will continue to do so, all guidance set forth for privacy, patient care, employee safety, and efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 as provided by the PA Department of Health (DOH) and the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). We remain in constant contact with DOH and CMS.

Effective immediately, all staff who were not already doing so, should start wearing paper surgical masks while on duty. Cloth face coverings are no longer appropriate for any staff member. All residents in Independent Living, Personal Care and Health Care should be wearing cloth face coverings.

We will continue to provide you with periodic updates with as much information as we can on our efforts to combat COVID-19. On behalf of the entire Laurel View Village Community, I want to thank each of you for your continued patience and prayers.
