Laurel View Village, a full-service Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), is hosting nationally recognized professional downsizer, Vickie Dellaquila. Dellaquila, is a certified expert in senior downsizing and move management services. She will be presenting two times at Laurel View Village on September 20. The second presentation at 2 p.m. is free and open to the public.
“This is just another resource we can provide our community,” said Christina Gorschak, Lead Sales Counselor. “This can be a huge transition for individuals and families, many people feel overwhelmed and not sure where to start. We want to provide individuals, caregivers and their families the opportunity to learn more about senior downsizing.”
Vickie Dellaquila is a Certified Professional Organizer® (CPO), Certified Professional Organizer in Chronic Disorganization® (CPO-CD), and the owner of Organization Rules, Inc. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Vickie has been providing compassionate organizing services for every stage of your life® since 2002. Her company specializes in residential organizing, working with the chronically disorganized, clients who have issues with hoarding, and virtual organizing. Organization Rules also provides senior downsizing and move management services.
She is also the author of the book, Don’t Toss My Memories in the Trash-A Step by Step Guide to Helping Seniors Downsize, Organize, and Move, rated by Amazon as one of the top 100 best books on Aging. The book was published in 2007 and in 2017 the second edition has been published!
Dellaquilla will give a presentation based on her book Don’t Toss My Memories in the Trash – A Step by Step Guide to Helping Seniors Downsize, Organize and Move. Following her presentation will be a Q&A session with light refreshments.

This presentation will help give some direction, resources and ideas,” said Gorschak. “Downsizing can be one of the top barriers for people who want to make the transition from their home to a community like ours. When we learned what a valuable resource we had in our own backyard we jumped at the opportunity to bring Vickie to our community.”
Dellaquilla is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers; National Association of Senior Move Managers, and the Institute for Challenging Disorganization. She holds several certifications through the Institute for Challenging Disorganization. She is a founding member of NAPO Pittsburgh. She is the first CPO-CD® in Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania and is an Education Mentor with ICD.
Vickie and her company Organization Rules has been featured in several newspapers, including Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, The Boston Herald, The Miami Herald, and the USA Today. Other media features include Costco Connection, MSN.com, KDKA-TV, and TLC television show Hoarding: Buried Alive.
