Laurel View Saturday Concert Series Presents Averyin
March 23 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Smitty and Deese are true soul-mates; born with a passion for music. The name Averyin is an Anglicized version of the Irish term “Aimhirghin,” which means: “Born of song.”
From families of 19th century Irish, Scottish and German immigrants, they grew up in the farm and coal country of western Pennsylvania, where they were inspired by the ethnic traditions, and eclectic record collections of their childhood homes. Discovering the joy of musical expression at an early age, they followed decidedly different artistic paths that would ultimately converge in Averyin.
Deese is a classically-trained violinist with years of symphony experience, who has expanded her creativity into Celtic fiddling and electrified improvisation. Smitty is a self-taught guitarist and singer inspired by the 1960s folk revival, acoustic ballads, and progressive rock.
Averyin allows the art to flow from within … the tunes that they have come to appreciate and discovered along the way. Their performances feature a mix of Gaelic and American folk tunes, classic rock favorites from the seventies, and original compositions. Everything they play reflects their varied influences, and includes that unique improvisation that arises spontaneously during a live performance. One thing is for certain: they will enjoy the journey … and they hope you will as well
Join us for an Afternoon of Great Music! Located in our Mishler Chapel Saturday, March 9,2019. The Concert Begins at 2:00 and is free and open to the public.
