RE: Positive Case of COVID-19

Dear Laurel View Village Community Members,

As of today, November 16, 2020, one staff member has tested positive and is now quarantined at home. The individual with the positive test result is a member of our health care center nursing team. We are currently following the “Criteria for Return to Work for Health Care Personnel with Confirmed or Suspected COVID-19” guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

This positive test result will prompt additional testing of residents and employees. We have begun to test all Health Care residents and all Laurel View Village staff. We will be starting with the residents and staff that had the most exposure to the positive employee. We expect to complete testing of Health Care residents today and Staff throughout the week.  We have been very fortunate, and we are hopeful we can contain the spread by acting quickly and being meticulous about infection control.

Because of the positive case, all Health Care and Personal Care in person visits are currently postponed until further notice. Staff will reach out to you to reschedule another method of staying connected. The beauty salon in the main building is also closed until further notice.

In addition to the above-mentioned exposure, we have a significant number of staff also off work due to exposures that occurred outside of Laurel View Village. This even includes one subcontractor who has since tested positive. We are not aware of any of these cases causing exposure to our campus. Please be patient as our staffing teams are working diligently to keep things going. To fill the absences many staff are working overtime and completing tasks other than their normal duties. As we have seen from the beginning of COVID the employees of Laurel View Village continue to pitch in wherever necessary to serve and protect the residents.

Please know that we have followed, and will continue to do so, all guidance set forth for privacy, patient care, employee safety, and efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 as provided by the PA Department of Health (DOH) and the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). We remain in constant contact with DOH and CMS. We will continue to provide you with updates with as much information as we can on our efforts to combat COVID-19. On behalf of the entire Laurel View Village Community, I want to thank each of you for your continued patience and prayers.
