April 1, 2021
Dear Residents and Families,
I hope this letter finds you well. We are extremely pleased to have welcomed back visitors to our Health Care and Personal Care Centers and more fully in our Independent Living areas. We know that it greatly benefits the well-being of our residents, families, and staff, to again be able to spend time with one another.
While being open to visitors, Covid still remains a threat. Covid cases in the surrounding area are climbing from their low in mid-March and as such we continue to urge all visitors to use precautions.
Ways that you can help keep your loved ones safe during your visit:
- Do not visit if you are having any symptoms of illness.
- Wash/sanitize your hands and wear face masks appropriately while visiting.
- Only take residents on outings where proper distancing and infection control can be practiced.
If we do have positive cases it will impact our ability to have visitors in the same way that we are currently allowed. With your help we can remain open for the visits that are vital to everyone.
On March 23, we once again tested all employees that were eligible to be tested and all tests came back negative. We are currently on a monthly testing schedule and plan to test again in April. We will be required to start testing weekly if any staff or residents would be identified as positive or if the county positivity rate increases to 5% or more. Currently Somerset County positivity has increased to over 4.5%, so we are monitoring this closely.
In other news, the “814” area code overlay is taking place this weekend. Starting Saturday April 3, you will need to dial the area code before any “814” phone call you are placing. This 10-digit dialing is standard in many other places will now be our new normal. We understand that this is new for all of us and will take some time getting used to. Our staff is aware of the situation and will be ready to assist any residents that are struggling with dialing.
Once again thank you for your cooperation and support. I pray that each of you has a blessed and safe Easter and can celebrate with the loved ones of your choosing.
