Campus Wide Update as of 5.21.2021

May 21, 2021

Dear Residents and Families,

This week we have some positive and some frustrating news to share. In the Health Care Center (HCC) we have identified no new cases of COVID, with a few test results still pending. We have been closed to indoor in-person visitation due to a couple HCC staff members testing positive. We are ready to open again to visitors as soon as those results are returned negative. (Update as of 2:00 p.m. on May 21, all results have been received and Health Care is back open to visitors.) We completed our testing early enough in the week that we had expected the results no later than yesterday, however that has not occurred. We hope that we can make the announcement later today. Until we do make the announcement you may schedule a virtual, window, or outdoor visit by contacting our Life Enrichment team.

In the Personal Care Center (PCC) this week’s testing did identify one Personal Care dining employee who tested positive and other employees who had been exposed to the positive employee. All are quarantining off campus. Based on guidance this represents an exposure to the residents. Even though it is considered low risk, due to high vaccination rates in our residents, we are required to close the PCC to indoor in-person visitors for 14 days and we must continue outbreak testing to ensure no other spread has occurred. All residents and staff will be tested weekly until we prove 14 consecutive days without any new infections to residents or staff working in Personal Care. We will reopen to in-person visitation as soon as we can. Until then you may schedule a virtual, window, or outdoor visit by contacting our Life Enrichment team.

These positive results do not change any precautions in Independent Living (IL). We know that the CDC has lifted mask restrictions for vaccinated individuals in the community. This change does apply to our Independent Living common areas. While we would like you to remain cautious, vaccinated individuals are allowed to be in the independent living common areas unmasked. Anyone entering the HCC or PCC must be masked according to our ongoing guidance. This includes the Village Café and Front desk area. To reiterate all individuals in the Village Café and Front Desk must be masked regardless of vaccination status.

Thank you all for your patience in these matters.

Sincerely,

Timothy Mock, CEO
