Two-bedroom apartment features a full-service kitchen,
safety-equipped bathroom, individual heat and air conditioning
controls, and an emergency call system.
The dream to create this full-service retirement community began
in 1981 when eight Mennonite churches in the greater Johnstown
community recognized a need. In 1983, the vision was enlarged beyond
denominational boundaries, and Allegheny Christian Ministries, Inc. (ACMI),
a not-for-profit ecumenical corporation, was established.
In 1991 Lee Regional Health System, through its Johnstown Medical
Development Corporation, joined forces with ACMI to create a strong
team of experienced professionals and a solid community foundation for
Laurel View Village. Laurel View Village’s Health Care Center opened
in November 1992. One month later, the Personal Care Center opened,
and in the fall of 1996 residential apartments and townhomes were
added to the campus.
A local, interdenominational board of directors composed equally of
church and Lee Initiatives, Inc. representatives governs Laurel View
Village and is committed to providing top-quality and cost-effective
services to area seniors. Daily operations of Laurel View Village are
managed by a team of experienced professionals, with over 75 years of
combined experience and dedication to caring for seniors.
Laurel View Village admits and provides services to al persons without
regard to race, color, sex, age, religious belief, creed, national
origin or physical or mental handicap. Laurel View Village is a member
of PANPHA, AAHSA and the local chamber of commerce.
